About

I’m Ed Hooper, a technology entrepreneur and investor.

I founded Cardinia Ventures in 2016 to support ambitious technology founders across Australia, the United States and New Zealand. Some of my investments include Chronosphere, DropWaterGrowlabs, Nura and Winely.

I work with a great team on Startup Galaxy to make the Australian startup ecosystem easier to access for all. We do this by providing a directory of the startups, investors, accelerators and jobs that make up the Australian Startup Ecosystem

In 2012 I co-founded Omny Studio with Andrew Armstrong and Long Zheng to help companies and podcasters manage audio. We also produced consumer audio apps OmnyRadio and text to speech app SoundGecko.

I’m part of the team behind the Angel Partners platform which helps angel investors find, qualify and invest in early stage technology startups.

I was the first employee at travel app rome2rio (acquired by Omio in 2019).

I’ve worked at bigger companies including FundingCircle, Seven West Media, Groupon, ANZ Bank and Microsoft.

In 2008 I co-founded SOAK Farming alongside David Burela, Dimaz Pramudya and Long Zheng. We went on to win the Microsoft Imagine Cup World finals and attempted to commercialise the technology to support farmers.
